A record of a trip across America (the segment from Omaha through Salt Lake City to the Pacific Coast by the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific over the Transcontinental Railroad) by William Christian Sigurd Topsöe (1840-1881), Danish writer and journalist. One illustration of Yosemite Valley is engraved from a photograph by Watkins; another engraving depicts the Grizzly Giant in the Mariposa Grove of Big Trees. Flake 8976 (citing the 1874 Swedish edition). Edges rubbed, a very good, tight copy. OCLC reports only two copies of this edition (both in Denmark). This Danish edition is rare; published in Swedish in 1874. There is no English translation. (#166197).
