Trains to Yosemite [by] Jack A. Burgess. Berkeley and Wilton, California: Signature Press, . 27.8x21.3 cm, pp. [i-iv] v-viii 1-364, 400 photographs, 26 scale drawings, 19 maps, original black cloth, spine panel stamped in silver, illustrated endpapers. First edition. This lavishly illustrated book, written by a Bay Area civil engineer and Master Model Railroader whose miniature railroad closely modeled its prototype, will probably endure as the standard work on the construction, operation and demise of the Yosemite Valley Railroad. Much of the book's content is drawn from the collection of photographs and documents from the files of the YVRR preserved by Al Rose (see dedication, page viii). Also see Hank Johnston and James Law, Railroads of the Yosemite Valley ([Long Beach, California]: Johnston-Howe Publications, ). A fine copy in fine dust jacket. (#166238).
