San Marino, California: Golden West Books, 1964. 27.8x21.5 cm, pp. [1-3] 4-47 [48], illustrations, original pictorial self wrappers, stapled. Third printing. The Lima Machine Works, incorporated in 1877, produced agricultural and sawmill equipment and boilers. By 1878 the sawmill trade had fallen off and the company sought new lines of manufacture. In 1879 the firm finished its first three locomotives. The company's best known product was the Shay, a geared steam locomotive patented by Ephraim Shay in 1881. A fine copy. (#166262).
