(#166418) Structure of metamorphic rocks at Mineral King[,] California by M. N. Christensen. MARK NEVELL CHRISTENSEN.

Structure of metamorphic rocks at Mineral King[,] California by M. N. Christensen. Berkeley and Los Angeles: University of California Press, 1963. 26 cm, [1-4] 159-192 pages, 4 plates, 13 figures, 1 folded map, original cream wrappers printed in black, stapled. First edition. A study of one of the isolated bodies of metamorphic rock that lie within the Sierra Nevada batholith. "These metamorphic bodies provide the only remaining evidence of the stratigraphic and structural history of the Sierra Nevada before emplacement of the granitic rocks. The structural evolution of the metamorphic rocks, the extent to which deformation has modified stratigraphic relations, and the relation of the metamorphic structures to emplacement of the granitic rocks are all imperfectly understood. This study is an effort to improve understanding of these problems" (page 159). The large folded map is "Geologic Map of the Mineral King Area, California." Private owner's name stamped at top edge of the front wrapper. Wrappers a bit rumpled and dusty, a very good copy. (#166418).
