First edition. A paper based on four months' field work in the summers of 1926 and 1927 north of Yosemite and in the Mineral King region of the southern Sierra Nevada. An analysis of autoliths, fragments of previously crystallized portions of rocks enclosed in material from the same magma which solidified later. At the time this paper was published their genesis was not established. Inked signature of former owner at upper right corner of front cover.
