Yosemite California's all-year playland in spring in summer [in autumn in winter] [cover title]. [Yosemite National Park, California: Yosemite Park and Curry Co., 1926.]. 17.7 x 16.6 cm, folded to 17.7 x 8.3 cm, pp. [1-16] (not paginated), 65, mostly small, illustrations (including cover illustrations), 7 maps, partially printed in double columns, self wrappers, stapled. Advertising brochure, printed in four colors, promoting attractions along auto routes to and in Yosemite National Park, and guest services for the season of 1926-1927. The maps are a two-page colored map, "Auto routes entering Yosemite National Park" with insert showing roads in Yosemite Valley, and 5 small colored strip maps of auto routes leading to Yosemite Valley. Page [14] offers "some suggestions for motorists Yosemite bound" and page [15] provides "rates at hotels, lodges and camps ... for the 1926 season." Printer's imprint "Printed in U. S. A. From the Press of H. S. Crocker Co., Inc." is in the bottom margin of page [15]. A seminal Yosemite advertising piece that promotes travel to Yosemite National Park by automobile ("In recent years, three out of every four visitors to Yosemite have motored in") and year-round activities in the park. The all-year highway from Merced to Yosemite Valley was completed in 1926, using convict labor from San Quentin and Folsom prisons (after the publication of this brochure), making Yosemite Valley easily reached by automobile at any time of the year. Bancroft Library, Farquhar Papers withdrawn stamp on the front cover. A fine copy. (#166536).
