First edition. Rev. R. T. Cross (1844-1924), a western New Yorker who moved to Colorado in 1876 explored the mountains of the Western United States, mostly in Colorado, with great enthusiasm. An account of Cross' brief visit to Yosemite Valley in early May 1912 is found on pages 193-197. "In forty-eight hours, one day and parts of two others," He and two other men whose average age was seventy years, "walked about twenty-eight miles, with much hard climbing." Small closed tear in outer front joint repaired, a very good copy. (#166587).
