(#166658) The Hite Mine [by] J. D. Hague. JAMES DUNCAN HAGUE.

The Hite Mine [by] J. D. Hague. [Boston: T. R. Marvin & Son Printers], n.d. [1878]. 22.8x15 cm, pp. [1-4] 5-12, original light gray wrappers printed in black, sewn. First edition. A prospectus with a report by Hague addressed to J. Warren Merrill, Boston, dated San Francisco, September, 1878. The report describes the current property, operation and assets, estimated value of the remaining ore product, and proposed expansion of the Hite Mine, located on the south fork of the Merced River below Yosemite Valley. On page 7 Hague refers to "the accompanying map," but neither the copy at The Huntington, nor this Huntington duplicate copy have a map. There is another pamphlet by Hague about the Hite Mine with 12 illustrations (see Currey and Kruska 134). The Graphic, April 14, 1883, p. 394, prints eight illustrations of this mining operation. Huntington duplicate stamp on the rear cover. Wrappers dusty, mild stains to the fore and bottom edges of the rear panel, a very good copy. (#166658).
