Short articles and extracts include "The Exploration of the Sierra Nevada" by John C. Frémont, "Donner Lake" by C. F. McGlashan, "The Majesty of the Sierra" by John LeConte, "Lake Tahoe" by John Vance Cheney, "Summering at Lake Tahoe" by John LeConte, "Save the Forest Sanctuaries" by Edwin Markham, and "Touring in the Tahoe National Forest," anonymous information for visitors probably supplied by the U.S. Forest Service, plus several short quotations from the writings of John Muir. The poems are by Clinton Scollard, Ina Coolbrith, Joaquin Miller, Edwin Markham, Bayard Taylor, Bret Harte and others. The illustrations are a tipped-in color frontispiece of Lake Tahoe after a painting by C. H. Kletzker and a tipped-in reproduction of "High Sierra," a color painting by William Keith.
