The Kings River region should be a national park ... [cover title]. San Francisco: Sierra Club, 1939. 23 cm, pp. [1], 2-15 [16], 9 illustrations, 1 map, original pictorial self wrappers, stapled. First edition. A pamphlet supporting the Gearhart Bill to establish Kings Canyon National Park. Efforts to protect this region as a national park went on for many years. In 1926 conflict over possible reservoir sites kept the Kings River watershed bout of the Sequoia National Park enlargement legislation passed by Congress. An agreement to build the Pine Flat Reservoir outside the park boundaries was in large part responsible for the passage of the Gearhart Bill which made Kings Canyon part of the national parks system on March 4, 1940. A fine copy. (#167203).
