Real photo postcard (RPPC). Photograph probably taken by J. T. Boysen circa 1909. The handwritten note on the verso reads "Galen Clark / almost 96 / years when / taken / Geo Fiske / 81 years." On March 24, 1910, a few days before his 96th birthday, Clark died at his daughter’s home in Oakland, California. Clark's friend, photographer George Fiske (who lost most of his negatives in a fire in 1904), committed suicide in 1918. A wonderful photograph of two influential Yosemite pioneers. Fine. (#167287).
