The book condenses these observations in a fictional narrative describing the activities and interrelationship of the animal community at the rock during a twenty-four-hour period in mid-June. The author's autobiography, HOME TO THE WILDERNESS (Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1973) provides considerable background information on her field research for ONE DAY ON BEETLE ROCK. Robinson 4.
