The Bracebridge dinner at the Ahwahnee, Yosemite National Park [cover title]. [San Francisco: 5 Associates, Inc., 1953.]. 30.5x23 cm, pp. [1-20] (unnumbered), 13 illustrations (drawings and layout by Frann Spencer Reynolds), self wrappers, stapled. The Bracebridge ceremony has been held annually since the opening of the Ahwahnee in 1927 with the exception of a few years during World War Two when the hotel was a United States Naval Hospital and in 1955 when the Valley was flooded. The script for the pageant, loosely based on Washington Irving's 1819 tale about Christmas Day at Bracebridge Hall in Yorkshire, was written by Adams. The introduction, providing a historic sketch of the ceremony, was written by Spencer. Just a touch of tanning to top edge of front cover, a fine copy. In the original plain envelope, which is tanned around the edges. (#167925).
