DEATH VALLEY PHOTOGRAPHS BY ANSEL ADAMS STORY BY NANCY NEWHALL GUIDE BY RUTH KIRK MAPS DRAWN BY EDITH HAMLIN. San Francisco: 5 Associates, 1959. 30.5x23 cm, pp. [1-4] 5-55 , illustrations, endpaper maps, original pictorial wrappers, stapled. Second printing. A classic first published in 1954. "Of first importance are the remarkably fine photographs by Ansel Adams. There are 34 of these, mostly full-page, 10 of them in color. The 9-page descriptive and historical text by Nancy Newhall is about as accurate and well-written as any I have read. The guide section by Ruth Kirk, supplies travel advice, describes points of interest, discusses flora and fauna. Most of this material appeared first in the October 1953 issue of ARIZONA HIGHWAYS" (Edwards). Edwards, The Enduring Desert, pp. 182-183. A nearly fine to fine copy. A very nice copy, scarce thus. (#167928).
"SECOND EDITION 1959" on title page.
