The guide includes a brief history of the Mineral King Valley region with emphasis on the silver rush of 1873 and the unsuccessful efforts to establish profitable mining operations in the district. A description of Mineral King in 1883 is found in Lilias Napier Rose Robinson's narrative, A Short Account of Our Trip to the Sierra Nevada Mountains (1884). The Mineral King Valley area was added to Sequoia National Park in 1978. A fine copy. (#168025).
