Yosemite National Park hotels and tours [cover title]. [San Francisco: Union Lithograph Company], n.d. [1916]. 23x 20.5 cm (folded to 10.5x23 cm), pp. [1] 2-30 [31-32], 25 illustrations (including cover illustrations), numerous small vignettes in the text, 2 maps, printed throughout in green and black, self wrappers, stapled. First edition. Caption title: "Yosemite National Park." The short-lived Desmond Park Service Company was granted a temporary one year lease by the Park Service on June 1, 1915. By late 1915, with the backing of Stephen T. Mather, first Director of the National Park Service, the Desmond Park Service Company had a twenty-year lease and was the major concessionaire in Yosemite Valley. By late 1917 the company was bankrupt. The brochure advertises El Capitan Camp, opened in 1916, destroyed by fire in 1917, and the pending construction of a new addition to the Glacier Point Hotel (opened in 1917). See Sargent, Yosemite & its Innkeepers, pp. 47-70. A very good copy. (#168067).
