First edition. A detailed account of a transcontinental Raymond tour (with a list of the excursionists) that left Boston for the Pacific coast on 24 April 1884. The participants traveled by rail to Colorado, then to California by the southern route, then from Los Angeles to San Francisco, and then returned to Boston though the Sierra Nevada. Bookplate of Thomas Jenkins Craven affixed to the front pastedown, gift inscription dated 14 August 1884 on front free endpaper.
