Yosemite souvenir book all in natural color [cover title]. [San Francisco: 5 Associates, Inc., 1952.]. 15.2x23 cm (oblong octavo), pp. [1-24] (not paginated), 39 illustrations (including those on covers). 1 map (on inside rear cover), pictorial wrappers, stapled. First edition. A pictorial souvenir booklet illustrated with color photographs, copyright 1952. The text provides brief descriptions of major scenic features in Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove. Knight's authorship is acknowledged on page [24]. In 1952, Ansel and Virginia Adams, Beaumont and Nancy Newhall and Philip Knight, a photographer and Adams' assistant at Best's Studio, formed a publishing company they called 5 Associates. Its original purpose was to print postcards and souvenir booklets to sell at Best's Studio in Yosemite National Park. Production of affordable large format photographic books soon followed, along with note cards, Christmas cards and matted reproductions. Reprinted in various formats and configurations into the 1960s. Closed tear in rear cover, several creases, fox marks on last page, a good copy. (#168414).
