The guide contains a listing of maximum saddle horse and carriage rental rates, a compilation of the number of tourists visiting the valley between 1855 and 1885, a description of the principal routes to the valley, a table of distances between valley points of interest, and general information for campers. Dennison served as guardian of the Yosemite Grant from 1885 to 1886. The guide was reissued in 1887 with Dennison's name removed from the title page and deletion of "Decision and Opinion of the U. S. Supreme Court," which occupied pages 25-26 of the 1886 compilation. Currey and Kruska 41.
