First edition. A detailed description of the facilities and operation of this power system with main dam and reservoir at Crane Valley on the North Fork of the San Joaquin River. Includes a historical sketch of the early history of the Corporation. The San Joaquin Electric Company was organized by John S. Eastwood in the spring of 1895 to provide electric power for the city of Fresno in the San Joaquin Valley. The power plant in Crane Valley commenced operation in June 1896. At that time the 37-mile transmission line was the longest in the world. By 1902 the company was bankrupt and its assets were acquired by William G, Kerckhoff and A. C.
