... More light on the destructive Hetch Hetchy scheme. A crisis in national park affairs. Let everyone help to save our great national playgrounds from invasion. To the American people, fellow owners of the Yosemite National Park. San Francisco: Society for the Preservation of National Parks, California Branch, n.d. [1913]. Single sheet, 33.5 x 53 cm, folded to make 4 pages; printed in double columns. 1 map. First edition. The leaflet emphasized the Sierra Club's belief that San Francisco wanted hydroelectric power, not water, and that under the terms of the draft Raker bill "more than half the entire national park would be destroyed as a public playground." Prominent citizens opposing the Hetch Hetchy project are quoted. Page 2 prints an article by John Muir, "The Hetch Hetchy Valley in the Yosemite National Park: What it is and the Dangers Threatening its Destruction." Editors are urged to print "any of the following articles in whole, or in part. We suggest that several be used in successive issues of your publication." Several short closed tears in folds near edges, a very good copy. (#168529).
