Folio (31 x 25.5 cm; 12 1/4 x 10 inches), 15 lithograph views, maps, and sections, most of which are folding, contemporary mustard paper wrappers, untrimmed, sewn. First edition. The earliest published views of the Adirondack High Peaks. The plates, lithographed by Bufford after drawings by Emmons and Ingham were included in Emmons's 1837 second annual report, published as part of NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY DOCUMENT, number 200 (Albany 1838). Emmons's second report provides details of the geology of St. Lawrence and Essex counties, as well as an account of Emmons's first ascent of Mt. Marcy. Although commissioned to accompany the report, a few sets of the plates were issued separately in plain wrappers of various colors.
