(#172613) THE GHOST OF SHAFTESBURY ABBEY [cover title]. Wilson Claridge.

THE GHOST OF SHAFTESBURY ABBEY [cover title]. [Shaftesbury: Pearson & Son The Abbey Press 11 High St.], n.d. mid 1930s? Small octavo, pp. 1-12, publisher's gray wrappers printed in black, stapled. First edition? There is another printing, privately published (?) [Bournemouth] 1936. This edition, perhaps the first, appears to be unrecorded. A ghost story. "Shaftesbury Abbey was an abbey that housed nuns in Shaftesbury, Dorset. It was founded in about 888, and dissolved in 1539 during the English Reformation by the order of Thomas Cromwell, minister to King Henry VIII. At the time it was the second-wealthiest nunnery in England, behind only Syon Abbey" (Wikipedia). A fine copy. (#172613).
