Collects five weird fantasy and occult short stories including the remarkable "The Ensouled Violin," a tale of a demented virtuoso who uses strings made from human intestines in a futile attempt to outplay the violin of Paganini. Madame Blavatsky was a controversial Russian spiritualist and cofounder of the Theosophical Society. This collection was published posthumously in 1892, a year after her death. All early printings of this book are uncommon. Wrappers lightly soiled and spotted (latter mostly to rear cover), a very good copy. (#178991).
