This document contains reports of eight railroads, five of which were constructing a branch or continuation of the lines of the Union Pacific Railroad Company under acts of Congress in 1862 and 1868: Union Pacific, Central Pacific, Union Pacific, Eastern Division (Kansas Pacific), Sioux City and Pacific, Central Branch, Union Pacific (formerly the Atchison and Pike's Peak Railroad, later absorbed into Missouri Pacific system), Western Pacific, Northern Pacific, and Southern Pacific, the most extensive being that of the Union Pacific which includes a lengthy, detailed report of its progress during the year 1867 written by G. M. Dodge, its chief engineer (pages 3-25). Removed from a larger volume but with sewing intact. An important report on the progress of the transcontinental railroad. (#179131).
