H. Bull), stapled. Enlarged edition, probable third printing. The earliest recorded 32-page edition was issued in 1910. There were three printings: (A) Not paginated; Printer's code "A190 (2-19-10-20,000)" at base of text on page [31]; (B) Paginated, [1-3] 4-32; Code "A33 (8-31-10-40M)" on page 31; (C) Paginated, [1-3] 4-32; Code "A154 (11-29-10-15,000)" on page 31. Reprints of this enlarged edition with minor textual changes and the addition of a map, have been located for 1911, code "A59 (9-12-11-40M)," and 1914, two printings: (A) "(A197-3-17-14-15M)" and (B) "(A23-7-23-14-75M)." In 1916 this booklet was reissued in a new format of 16 pages with text printed in three columns and new illustrations. Code on page 16: "A124-(2-4-16-50M)." An elaborate brochure devoted to the giant Sequoia groves in California's Sierra Nevada. The Southern Pacific Company took a great interest in California's new national parks and issued a considerable amount of promotional material on the parks and outdoor life in California for the tourist trade. This is one of three promotional pieces on the big trees they published in the early 1900s (a "big tree book," a "big tree folder," and a "big tree primer").
