Trade card, 12x7.3 cm, printed on buff card stock, printed on both sides. Verso is "Table of Altitudes at Yo-Semite Valley," 1 illustration. George F. Leidig and his family arrived in Yosemite Valley in 1866. Leidig and his wife managed the old Lower Hotel until its owner, A. G. Black, personally assumed its management. After that the Leidigs secured rights to build for themselves. In 1869 Leidig formed a partnership with Davanay to acquire the moneys needed to complete his hotel, located 1/8th mile west of the rival Lower Hotel (then known as Black's). In 1871 Davanay took a mortgage on the property and left the partnership. The Leidigs operated their popular two-story hotel until it was torn down in 1888.
