Portland, Oregon: Richard E. Geis, August 1955 (number 21). Large octavo (8 1/2 x 11 inches), single issue, mimeographed, pictorial self wrappers, stapled. Contributions by Richard E. Geis, Damon Knight, Richard Lupoff, and others. Includes a 2-page "Letter from New York" by Harlan Ellison. A celebrated fanzine founded by Geis in July 1953. Following the twentieth issue of Psychotic, Geis changed the name to Science Fiction Review and published three issues under the new title before dropping out of fandom with the October-November 1955 issue. Twelve years later Geis returned to Fanzine publishing with Psychotic #21 and continued with a few issues under this title before reverting to Science Fiction Review. In 1971 he killed the magazine yet again, but in 1972 began Richard E. Geis, a personalzine, which became Alien Critic, and later Science Fiction Review yet again. During the 1960s and 1970s the magazine won several Hugo Awards for best fanzine. The 1955 issues are fairly uncommon.
