(#89166) THE SCREAMING MIMI. Fredric Brown.

THE SCREAMING MIMI. New York: E. P. Dutton & Company, Inc., 1949. Octavo, boards. First edition. One of Brown's three major suspense novels. "MIMI is the story of an alcoholic Chicago reporter named Sweeney and his search for a beautiful woman and a Ripper-style killer; it is also an allegorical retelling of 'Beauty and the Beast.'" - Pronzini and Muller, 1001 Midnights, p. 93. Basis for the 1958 film noir of the same name with Anita Ekberg. Slight spine lean, touch of rubbing to crown of spine panel, a near fine copy in bright, nearly fine dust jacket with some faint wrinkling at head of spine panel and upper corner tips. A very nice copy of one of Brown's more elusive mystery novels. (#89166).
