[Yosemite National Park, California: Printed by Yosemite Park and Curry Co., January 15, 1946.]. 23.8x17.8 cm, pp. [1-5] 6-76, 43 illustrations, blue wrappers printed in gold, stapled. First edition. The United States Naval Convalescent Hospital (later the United States Naval Special Hospital) was commissioned on June 25, 1943 and remained in operation until December 15, 1945. The reservation occupied thirty-seven acres of the north east portion of Yosemite Valley, including the Ahwahnee Hotel complex. The history included a roster of all officers, enlisted personnel, and other staff assigned to the hospital unit. Many of the photographs used for illustrations were taken by, but not credited to, Ansel Adams. Two tiny errant ink spots on the front cover, else a fine copy. (#179327).
