Second edition, enlarged. The material culture, customs, and legends of the Yosemite Indians are the major topic of this book. Much of Wilson's information seems to have been taken from Galen Clark's Indians of the Yosemite Valley and Vicinity (Yosemite Valley, California: Galen Clark, 1907). Wilson (1891-1980) was hired by Curry Camping Company in 1918. He worked for the Yosemite concessionaire for fifteen years as a fire fall tender, campfire entertainer, and tour bus guide. He was a good friend to the Indians, dressed in their costume, and used their history and customs frequently as lecture topics. The 1926 "Diamond Jubilee Edition" has expanded text and adds 10 illustrations, including several by H. C. Tibbitts and J. T. Boysen. Spine panel just a bit tanned, a very good copy.
