This issue includes the first installment of an illustrated three-part article, "The Great Yo-Semite Valley," by editor James Mason Hutchings, which was continued in the issues dated November and December 1859. Many of the article's illustrations are wood engravings based on photographs taken by Charles L. Weed in 1859, the first photographic images of Yosemite Valley. Some scattered foxing, mostly fore-edge margins, over lapping edges frayed and chipped at fore-edge corners, a very good copy. (#179487).
