Bunker, plus vignettes on every page, original decorated gray-green cloth stamped in gold and blind. First edition. Sentimental Christmas story by a popular Alabama writer, based on the old legend that animals are allowed to speak on Christmas Eve, in honor of their closeness to Jesus when he was born in a stable. The ghost of a child also figures in the story. The marginal vignettes (different on every page) make this a very attractive example of American Edwardian book design.
