Fox was one of the most popular American novelists in the 1900s leading up to World War I, part of a group that included Jack London, Gene Stratton Porter, Kate Douglas Wiggin and Harold Bell Wright, a group that generated more than twice as many million-copy-sellers than in the next fifteen-year period (1915-1930).
