TEARS AND TRIUMPH. [Sydney: Beatty, Richardson & Co., Printers], n.d. [1913]. Octavo, original gray wrappers printed in black, stapled. First edition. This 76-page story is O'Reilly's longest work and is the author's first book devoted solely to his fiction (two prose pieces were published in A PEDLAR'S PACK, his 1888 poetry collection). Odd typesetting, with first lines of paragraphs indented about fifteen character-spaces. There was a second edition of this book, self-published by the author at Lindfield. Miller and Macartney (1956), p. 366. Yapp edges a bit frayed, some tanning along spine panel, a very good copy. This first edition is somewhat uncommon. (#117044).
