First edition. Sixteen fairy tales and stories of magic, etc. retold by MacKenzie, who specialized in this sort of thing. "In a sense the East is the fairyland of the West -- the source of innumerable wonder tales from inexhaustible storehouses of romance. The collection in this volume has been gleaned from countries as far apart as Egypt and Japan, Afghanistan and Polynesia." - from MacKenzie's preface. The author was an archaeologist whose nonfiction included FOOTPRINTS OF EARLY MAN and ANCIENT MAN IN BRITAIN. Boards rubbed and worn at corners, spine panel dusty, else a very good copy. (#119454).
