THE PHANTOM IN THE RAINBOW. Chicago: A. C. McClurg & Co., 1929. Octavo, pp. [1-8] 1-376, original blue-gray cloth, front panel stamped in black and ruled in blind, spine panel stamped in black. First edition. Occult thriller featuring a man with paranormal abilities. First published as a six-part serial in ARGOSY ALL-STORY WEEKLY, beginning 29 December 1928. In 333. Bleiler (1978), p. 117. Reginald 08542. Early owner's signature and date on front paste-down. A fine copy in very good four-color pictorial dust jacket (striking illustration by Paul Stahr of a hooded wizard holding up a crystal ball against a rainbow background) with wear at edges, tiny chip from upper edge of front panel near spine fold, some general dust spoiling to spine and rear panels, and small closed tear and associated wrinkle to spine panel near rear spine fold. A pretty nice example of the jacket. (#130351).
