A very detailed future war novel which ends in the concentration of Vereiniten States of Europe. Carl Bleibtreu (1859-1928), a German journalist and novelist, began writing fiction as a belated Romantic. He later devised the form in which he was most successful -- novels with large-scale battle descriptions (Carl was the son of George Bleibtreu, a noted combat artist). Ultimately he discarded the fiction and wrote straightforward accounts of battles -- of Waterloo and many others. Clarke, Voices Prophesying War: Future Wars 1763-3749 (1992), p. 232. Lexikon 1, pp. 45-6. Bloch (2002) 443. Not in Nagl. Rebound, sheets a bit trimmed, else a fine copy. (#133207).
