Beginning in the mid-1920s, Stemmer, a Swiss engineer and future organizer of the International Astronautical Society, worked on the development of rocket engines and in the 1930s performed on a homemade bench numerous experiments with liquid fuel engines. Also includes contributions two other rocket pioneers: "Fundamental Problems About the Design of the Gas Pressure Rocket Engines" by Eugen Sänger and "Missile Developments in the Bavarian Motor Works" by Heinz Gartner, as well as an extensive bibliography and chronologically arranged history of rocketry.
