Collects four novellas. Two of them, concerning interactions with alien cultures, first appeared in the SATURDAY EVENING POST. A third story, "Mutation," is about a family that survived a nuclear and bacteriological holocaust that killed most of the human race. The author, who published only two works of genre interest, this one and the 1948 supernatural novel, THE ROOM BEYOND, was the brother of writer John Dickson Carr. Anatomy of Wonder (1987) 3-89.
