NOVAE TERRAE, the first British fan magazine, was "founded in March 1936 by Maurice K, Hanson for the Nuneaton branch of the Science Fiction League run by WONDER STORIES. Hanson subsequently moved to London, and when the Science Fiction Association (SFA) was established in 1937, NOVAE TERRAE became the official news organ. After twenty-nine issues, however, Hanson tired of his exceptional workload and handed the magazine over to John Carnell, who retitled it NEW WORLDS and reverted to volume 1, number 1 with the March 1939 issue." - Tymn and Ashley, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Weird Fiction Magazines, p. 423.
