(#146094) PLANET OF NO RETURN. Poul Anderson.

PLANET OF NO RETURN. London: Dennis Dobson, [1966]. Octavo, boards. First British (and first hardcover) edition. Brief signed inscription by Anderson to a well-known SF editor who edited a number of Anderson's books on front free endpaper. Short novel first published in ASTOUNDING, June-July 1954, as "Question and Answer." The psychocrats rule the Earth. They attempt to sabotage a project to colonize a habitable planet to keep humanity from space-faring beyond the Solar System until mankind can be molded into a predictable, rational, mature, utopian society. Part of the Psychotechnic League sequence of Anderson's Future History series, all of which has as its background a nuclear holocaust which destroyed civilization. A fine copy in nearly fine first state dust jacket with a bit of tanning to spine panel and mild dust soiling to rear panel. (#146094).
