"The Mad Machines" concerns the fate of a time traveling criminal who lands in a mechanized city of the future operated by robots programed by humans, all of whom were annihilated sometime in the past by a black cloud of poisonous gas. "The Twilight People," is an imaginative catastrophe story set in the far future when small remnants of mankind survive on the frozen surface of the Earth and in its interior, and the surface dwellers are imperiled by a comet whose close approach will cause the Moon to fall on them.
