TWO AUTOGRAPH LETTERS, SIGNED (ALsS), the first 4 pages on small folded octavo sheet with "L'Abri" return address, dated 1 May 1935, the other 1 1/2 page on the same stationery, dated 14 October 1935, both to Morris White," both signed "M. P. Shiel." Most of the letter dated 1 May is devoted "the cinema and my books" which reads in part "... I think that, if the plots of my books were presented to them in a persistent way, the law of chance would operate to get one accepted; and then after one all. But I am told that it is no good sending them the whole book; the story must be written out succinctly in 1000 words or so." In the second, shorter letter Shiel responds favorably to White's proposal to publish a book of Shiel's poems. Good content. Both letters are in fine condition. (#155721).
