SPACE TREASON. Clarke, Bulmer.

SPACE TREASON. London: [Panther Books] Printed in Great Britain and Published by Hamilton & Co. (Stafford), Limited, [1952]. Octavo, cover art by Gordon C. Davies, pictorial wrappers. A FACSIMILE reprint of the first edition. Planetary romance set on Venus, where a Space Police Commander realizes his bosses are just as bad as the Insurgents claim, although some of the Insurgent leaders are secretly in league with at least one of his superiors. A romantic subplot between the cop and a scientist's daughter sets up the deus ex machina ending: a matter transmitter (invented by the scientist) that saves the solar system. "Fast paced and trivial." - Harbottle and Holland. This was the first excursion into writing by Clarke, a fan who was a London flat-mate of Bulmer at the time. Clarke, Tale of the Future (1978), p. 87. Reginald 02189. Harbottle and Holland A38. A fine copy. (#159887).
