THE TREASURY OF SCIENCE FICTION CLASSICS.

THE TREASURY OF SCIENCE FICTION CLASSICS. Garden City: Hanover House, [1954]. Octavo, cloth. First edition. Collects seventeen stories by Poe, Wells, Doyle, Verne, Stapledon, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sydney Fowler Wright, Capek, E. M. Forster, Edwin Balmer and Philip Wylie, H. P. Lovecraft and others, as well as the script for the Orson Welles radio play, "The Invasion From Mars." An excellent introduction to classic pre-1940 SF. Light strip of tanning to free endpapers near gutter margins, a nearly fine copy in very good dust jacket (the correct first printing jacket priced $2.95) with wear and shallow loss at spine ends and corner tips, tiny abrasion to front panel near upper spine fold, dust soiling to rear panel, and some mild foxing to flaps. The first edition of this book is uncommon and nice copies are quite elusive. (#161772).
