First edition. A bind-up of three works of nineteenth-century American and British humor: A first edition of a FAST LIFE (1874), Wright (II) 2436, a first edition of MARK TWAIN'S (BURLESQUE) AUTOBIOGRAPHY AND FIRST ROMANCE, New York: Sheldon & Company, 1871, BAL 3326 (noted state 2 with Ball, Black & Co. ad on page [2]), and a later printing of the New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1869 edition of THE TIN TRUMPET; OR, HEADS AND TAILS FOR THE WISE AND WAGGISH, an anonymous work by Horace Smith (1779-1849), a popular English writer. Twain's work has its original self wrappers, the two others lack their original covers. The bind-up's leather is worn at spine ends and corners, but sound. A FAST LIFE is very scarce. (#162785).
