TYPED LETTER SIGNED (TLS). 1 page, dated 15 February n.y. [1958] on The American Psychical institute, Inc. letterhead, to Avon Books. Letter offering a 45-50 thousand-word book on psychic phenomena "written in a popular style and filled with interesting case material ... thoroughly intelligible to the ordinary thinking man or woman." Avon did not publish any books by Carrington. Carrington (1880-1958) published over 100 books and pamphlets on various subjects, including paranormal and psychical research, conjuring and stage magic, and diet and health. His most important work was probably THE PHYSICAL PHENOMENA OF SPIRITUALISM (1907), a monumental work on fraudulent nineteenth-century spiritualism. Fine. (#162825).
