Revised and expanded edition. A new edition, revised and expanded by Isabelle F. Story, Chief of Information, National Park Service, from the text of the 1916 original edition prepared by Robert Sterling Yard, who, in 1920, resigned as editor of the National Park Service. As of October 1, 1940 there were 162 areas administered by the National Park Service: twenty-six National Parks, four national historical parks, eighty-two national monuments, eleven national military parks, eight national battlefield sites, six national historic sites, one national recreation area, nine miscellaneous national memorials, twelve national cemeteries, three national parkways, and the National Capital Parks system. This edition updates information on the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the parks. The Yosemite National Park, pages 20-24; The Sequoia National Park, pages 24-27; The Kings Canyon National Park, pages 103-105. There are earlier editions edited by Story (1888-1970) including a 65-page version published in 1929, this one published in 1941 apparently was the last.
