First edition. Paher says this work is "perhaps the most common of the Sutro items." Nevertheless, excepting his THE MINERAL RESOURCES OF THE UNITED STATES ... WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE COMSTOCK LODE AND THE SUTRO TUNNEL, IN NEVADA (1868) it is Sutro's most substantial, important work. This "regular" issue was issued without the folded map included in the issue prepared for investors, but it includes the favorable "Report of the Committee on Mines and Mining," pp. 91-96, not included in the "investor" issue.
